Mack Trucks has introduced a major refresh of its MD Series medium-duty trucks, enhancing design, comfort, and functionality. The updates emphasize a strong visual connection to Mack’s iconic Anthem model, aligning styling and features across the brand’s product range. Mack Trucks has always been known for its bold and robust designs, and the refreshed MD Series stays true to that legacy. The updated MD trucks now incorporate the Anthem cab, ensuring a cohesive styling language throughout the Mack lineup. Tim Wrinkle, Mack’s senior product manager for vocational and medium-duty trucks, explained the significance of the design refresh. “Our customers recognize the Anthem as a premium truck, and they want that look to extend to their medium-duty vehicles,” he said. The new MD Series blends Anthem-inspired aesthetics with modern features, creating a distinctive and premium appearance.Driver-Centric Upgrades for Comfort and Safety
Driver comfort and safety have become top priorities in the medium-duty truck segment, and the new Mack MD delivers on both fronts. Wrinkle emphasized that the redesigned MD is focused on providing a Class 8 experience in a medium-duty platform. Key interior enhancements include:- Cab Comfort: A larger cab with 200 extra liters of interior volume, offering improved space for both drivers and passengers.
- Ergonomic Features: Standard tilt-telescopic steering, air-suspension cab, and an air-ride driver seat ensure a comfortable driving experience.
- Modern Amenities: Power windows, locks, LED interior lighting, and adjustable seat belts on the B pillar are now standard.
- Enhanced Safety: Anti-Lock Braking System ABS with Automatic Traction Control ATC, radio mute in reverse, and a park brake alarm contribute to a safer ride.
Advanced Features Straight from the Anthem
The MD Series now includes several features directly inspired by the Anthem, including:- Steering Wheel Controls: Integrated cruise control, telephone, and audio controls for added convenience and safety.
- Interior Design: Brushed aluminum trim accents, two-tone vinyl upholstery, and redesigned dashboards elevate the premium feel of the MD trucks.
Performance and Durability Redefined
Available in Class 6 MD6 and Class 7 MD7 configurations, the MD Series offers powerful and reliable performance. Diesel models feature the Cummins B6.7 engine, paired with Allison transmissions and Meritor axles, delivering robust capabilities. For those seeking eco-friendly alternatives, Mack has also introduced an electric drivetrain option. The MD trucks boast durable 110 KSI frame rails for Class 6 models and 120 KSI rails for Class 7 versions, comparable to those in Mack’s heavy-duty Class 8 trucks. “We’ve built these trucks with stout rails for enhanced durability,” Wrinkle noted.Ease of Customization for Body Builders
